Each generation is responsible to propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ, equip the saints for ministry, and prepare the next generation of servant-leaders.

Objective

The Discipleship Training Program (DTP) has been the foundation for spiritual formation since the inception of this congregation in 1995. It exists to advance the kingdom of God by mentoring men who will live gospel-centered, missional lives in keeping with the apostolic pattern of 2 Timothy 2:2. The ministry of this local church and the families that comprise it will be sustained only by reproducing such men who will reproduce other like men. Each generation is responsible to propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ (Mt. 28:19), equip the saints for ministry (Eph. 4:11), and prepare the next generation of servant-leaders.

It has been our conviction that this is best accomplished in the context of the local church. Discipleship within the local church employs the internship model of training where learning takes place by precept, example, and real life application.

Description

Writing to a young minister of the gospel, the apostle Paul states, “Watch your life and your doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers” (1 Timothy 4:16).

Character and knowledge are inextricably connected and essential not only for pastoral ministry, but also for the spiritual growth of every saint. Accordingly, the focus of this program is upon personal holiness as the product of the theological underpinnings of grace. This dual emphasis is related to every area of personal, family and church life. To achieve these objectives, DTP uses both classroom lecture and participation, as well as small group discipleship with church elders.

Requirement

This Discipleship Training Program is offered to all men who are members of Grace Bible Church yearning for a more vibrant walk with God, desiring greater impact in relationships with others and aspiring to a stronger grasp of the Word of God. If you are willing to apply yourself to discipleship, we invite you to prayerfully consider participating in this program. Class sizes will be limited to maintain the desired level of intimacy and opportunity for involvement, so please email Scott Denny at scottdenny@graceforus.org if your are interested in joining the next cycle of DTP.

Each unit will require reading, interaction with the material, written assignments and the application of spiritual truth in the context of small group accountability. Annually we meet weekly from September to June with breaks for the holidays. Each unit is approximately 12 weeks. The times and location of the meetings will be announced at the annual DTP Open House.
